Born and raised in North Carolina, Shannon D'Alton has had a passion for art and creativity since childhood. However, after witnessing an accident as a teenager, she put aside what she loved most and pursued a career in nursing at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. For almost twenty years, Shannon has been working tirelessly with children who are suffering from chronic and life-threatening illnesses, serving as a pediatric palliative care nurse practitioner.
Despite her demanding career, Shannon never lost her love for art. In 2020, after homeschooling her own children and being inspired by their artwork, she returned to her passion and began creating once again. For Shannon, art serves as a vital form of self-expression and a means of maintaining healthy mental well-being.
Shannon's art is deeply influenced by her personal experience and work with children and families navigating grief and loss. Her pieces are a reflection of the human spirit's resilience and the beauty that can be found even in the most challenging times. Through her use of vivid colors, textures, and patterns, Shannon captures the emotions and experiences of those who have walked this difficult path.
Individually, each piece of paper and brush stroke in Shannon's artwork represents a unique individual. When they are viewed together, they form a beautiful and interconnected whole. Shannon's art is a powerful reminder that although we may be distinct individuals, we are all part of a larger, interconnected community.
Shannon resides in Mount Pleasant, SC with her loving family. Alongside her husband and two children, her household is completed by the presence of two golden retrievers, Millie and Arty, and their cat, Murphy. As an animal lover, Shannon takes joy in sharing her life with these furry companions.
